Editions in a different size/format

I thought that not everyone would like to have a huge abstract Movie Map on their wall, so I decided to make a smaller version, with just the palette and the soundtrack
(all source from A New Hope)

The is the original in the Widescreen Aspect ratio of the movie

But I thought it would be good to offer a Postcard sized print and came up with this

Updates For Movie Maps

I thought it was about time to update this blog and add a historical record of how the work is progressing...

The next thing I did was decide to add the soundtrack
So I wrote an application to draw the sound waves for me

Here is the image for the soundtrack of A New Hope

Its a bit messy
So I cleaned it up and added it to the palette print (to see if there was any correlation between the sound and the visuals)...

I tried to use the soundtrack as a mask

I did not think that was too good, so perhaps a line?

No.. some kind of transparency?

I even tried a Torus...

Not really...
So just a straight plot

I thought that idea worked best
So, now to try to add it to the Movie Map

I also removed the garish title - then added it down the side in very small print.
Mainly because the map becomes a bit more abstract without the title, and the viewer is drawn to the detail a lot more
I've also coded the background of each chapter (vertical) to match the selection of compressed frames that are in it
And I made a few alterations to the path drawing algorithms for a smoother render

There are more subtle variations to try (colors/transparency etc) but I have the format I want now
